What is an F1?

Asian Leopard Cat

Hybrid Bengals

F1 Bengals

The Bengal breed enters the domestic classification after 4 generations down from the Asian Leopard Cat and at that point, are considered SBT (stud book tradition). By definition, an F1 is a hybrid and 50% Asian Leopard Cat (ALC) in the Bengal breed.

Although very beautiful, early generation (EG) Bengals are not for everyone. They tend to pick one human to be their forever person versus being a family cat like an SBT. We highly recommend SBTs to families with small children or multiple animal environments. ALCs and EGs are very sensitive to sound and activity, so they are better suited to a quiet home where they can bond with their forever human.

Our ALC and F1s mainly eat mice and small chicks, but will also chow on kibble and canned food. They prefer their prey, which is healthier and their preference.

Bengals are high-energy cats and even more so at the EG level. We recommend an exercise wheel with all of our Bengal cat homes or daily, rigorous play sessions.
